The team at Safe Storage Depot are stoked for a Canadian version of Storage Wars, our favorite reality show!
Reported by CP24, “Storage Wars Canada” will be similar to the popular U.S. version where animated buyers bid on the contents of abandoned storage containers hoping to find valuables tucked inside. Claire Freeland, director of original programming for Rogers Media, said casting is key to making sure the show succeeds.
If you’re not familiar with how the U.S. show works, here’s a primer.
- Four professional buyers and their team scour repossessed storage units in search of valuables. Note: California law allows the contents of a locker to be sold by an auctioneer when rent is not paid for three months.
- Each team are given mere minutes to scan the locker and then offer what they think its contents are worth if put up for resale. Their goal is to turn a profit on what they find.
- A highlight from a past episode had co-host Dan Dotson finding slabs of white jade worth $15,000. It looked like nondescript white plaster tables to the naked eye.
Filming begins in May. You might just see Safe Storage Depot on Wilson or Hurontario on T.V.
